A mental illness is a physical illness of the brain that causes disturbances in thinking, behaviour, energy or emotion that make it difficult to cope with the ordinary demands of life.
This can affect 19% of the adult population, 46% of teenagers and 13% of children each year. However, only half of those affected receive treatment, often because of the stigma attached to mental health.
With all what has been going around us, it is extremely important to check up on our closed ones. This should not only be for a day or two or even a month. It is a continuous process. Each one of has ups and downs but the way each of us deals with it is different.
We should all normalise that “mental health is as important as physical health.” The very first step we can take towards this is being kind and gentle to the people around us and opening up to them so that they feel free to open up to you during their bad times.
Our Parikh CTB team got in touch with an expert Dr. Hemangi Mishra to speak up on this. It can be accessed from the below link-
